We had a class observation today!
It’s rainy season and the noticeboard is decorated beautifully.

Paper umbrellas hang from the ceiling as the parents arrive to watch for the lesson observation day.

Parents watch from the sidelines as the students work together in groups.

In the music room the music teacher sits at the piano in the center flanked on both sides by the students. They are listening intently while following along with the music score.

In the library the students learn about new and interesting books while the parents watch on. Reading is an essential life skill and Hinode students are keen readers.

In English class the fourth grade students enjoy an exciting game of karuta.

The topic is food, which is always popular.

In grade 4 the English gets more difficult and we are learning about countable and uncountable nouns. “Is there any orange juice? Are there any grapes?”
It’s more fun to listen and practice this while playing.
Also we practiced talking about jobs and our dreams in and will give speeches next time.

The second grade students learned about the family and enjoyed listening to a famous picture book.

Then it was time to study phonics to help with learning to read and write in English.
Today the focus was on C.V.C (consonant, vowel, consonant) words and the short vowel sounds.
In this game students make cute ice cream sundaes while making words. A letter of the alphabet is written on each ice cream ball and 3 letters are put in a line to make a word.
“a” “e” “I” “o” or “u” go in the middle then students listen to the teacher and find the letters to complete the word.

We can make the word “pig”!

We can make the word “dog”!

The students loved making word sundaes and started to play with making words by themselves.
Time to read the great English books in the library. You can do it!
